Paga Nagari: Journal of Islamic Philanthropy is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. This journal adheres to the ethical guidelines for scholarly publishing established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The journal ensures that all parties involved in the publication process—including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—conform to ethical principles in every stage of academic communication.

1. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors submitting manuscripts to this journal must: 1) ensure that their work is original and free from plagiarism, 2) appropriately cite and acknowledge all sources and influences, 3) present research findings accurately and transparently, 4) avoid falsification, fabrication, and misrepresentation of data, 5) ensure that the manuscript has not been published previously and is not under consideration elsewhere, 6) disclose any potential conflicts of interest, 7) list only individuals who have made significant contributions to the research as co-authors and 7)obtain necessary ethical clearances (when involving human participants, institutions, or sensitive data).
Authors are required to participate in the peer-review process and respond to editorial decisions and reviewer comments professionally and in a timely manner.

2. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers play a crucial role in the quality control of scholarly publications. Reviewers are expected to: 1) provide objective, constructive, and timely evaluations, 2) maintain confidentiality of the review process, 3) not use unpublished information for personal advantage, 4) identify relevant literature that has not been cited by the authors, 5) notify the editor of any ethical concerns, including plagiarism or data manipulation, and 6) decline review assignments if a conflict of interest exists.

3. Responsibilities of Editors

The Editorial Board is responsible for ensuring that all manuscripts are evaluated fairly and based solely on academic merit. Editors must: 1) maintain confidentiality of submissions, 2) make publication decisions independent of authors’ gender, ethnicity, institutional affiliation, or personal identity, 3) ensure a fair double-blind peer-review process, 4) prevent any form of coercive citation, self-serving practices, or unethical influence, 5) address ethical concerns, complaints, or disputes promptly and transparently and 6) handle allegations of misconduct in accordance with COPE guidelines.

4. Responsibilities of Publisher

The publisher works with the Editorial Board to: 1) support editorial independence and integrity, 2) ensure the accessibility and preservation of published content, 3) maintain academic and ethical publishing standards and 4) assist in addressing ethical breaches or academic misconduct.

5. Misconduct and Ethical Violations

The journal takes allegations of research misconduct—including plagiarism, duplicate submission, data manipulation, authorship disputes, and unethical research practices— very seriously. Cases will be investigated following COPE procedures, and sanctions may include manuscript withdrawal, retraction, correction, or reporting to relevant institutions.

6. Retraction, Correction, and Withdrawal Policies

If errors or ethical issues are identified after publication, the journal may issue: 1) a correction (for minor errors), 2) an expression of concern (for disputed cases), 3) or a retraction (for confirmed misconduct or invalid findings).
